October 2020, when I was bedridden, barely able to function, and alone. IPNB saved me!
Six years ago, I was so close to death that my recovery goals were to drink a little water, eat a piece of toast, and walk to the end of the driveway. That was all I could manage. My hair stopped growing, thinned, and turned brittle. My body was screaming that something was terribly wrong. My doctors didn’t believe me. My “specially trained” therapist couldn’t handle my reality and abandoned me. I was completely alone and terrified.
The healthcare system couldn’t save me; its standard treatments had heavily contributed to my distress, and continued exposure to medical environments kept the traumatic stress ongoing. So, I learned, one tiny step at a time, how to give my nervous system the safety and regulation it needed to keep going.
I’ve spent over a decade studying and practicing Relational Neuroscience/Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) for stress reduction and trauma recovery. And I’ve distilled the most essential, life-saving pieces into the Foundations of Regulation course, so you don’t have to go through what I did.
If you’ve been let down by the system and need a path back to safety, this course is for you. 💙
Regulation requires the sense of safety in the self and the environment. Without it our systems cannot regulate. They must focus on threat detection and protection. Our course will help you recognize safety when you experience it, and understand what you need for it to grow so you can make choices in that direction.
This six-week online group focused on safety, nervous system understanding, and shared presence is not just a class. It’s practice in co-regulation with a predictable field and real people. A small, closed online class focused on connection gives people a lived experience of safety in relationship, perhaps for the first time.
Participants learn what safety and connection feel like, and how to recognize overload before it becomes collapse or explosion. From there, building safety inside themselves and around others becomes possible, because they are no longer guessing.
I share the Interpersonal Neurobiology and Imogen teaches the BodyIntelligence practices she developed over two decades as an Alexander Technique Instructor. These are neuroscience-backed, portable, discreet, and powerfully effective.
Our 15th Foundations of Regulation course will give you tools you can use anytime, anywhere, to help you navigate stressful situations with more ease. These lead to empowerment rather than dependence. Whatever your challenges, you can improve your quality of life.
The class fills up fast because we limit participants as part of creating a safe community space.

Shay Seaborne CPTSD teaches Relational Neuroscience for stress reduction, trauma recovery, and community building. Shay has studied the neurobiology of fear / trauma /PTSD since 2014 and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) since 2019. They write, speak, teach, and make art to convey their experiences as well as their understanding of the neurobiology of fear, trauma theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology concepts, and principles of trauma recovery. A native of Northern Virginia, Shay settled in Delaware to sail KALMAR NYCKEL, the state’s tall ship. But once they finally had mental health insurance, their life rapidly changed. The standard treatment for PTSD nearly killed them. The psychiatric abuse began a cascade of negative medical encounters that repeatedly caused additional harm and the development of severe Medical PTSD.
Shay wishes everyone could recognize that "mental health problems" are symptoms of dysregulation, our mainstream culture is neuro-negative, and we can heal ourselves and each other through awareness, understanding, and safe connection.
